Citroen C4 Picasso EGS gearbox problem One of the biggest talking points of the C4 Picasso is the automatic gearbox.It did well winning our MPV of the Year award twice in a row.
Not only does it have plenty of space, but its innovative design and practicality make it great to live with, too. There are five engines on offer: 1.6-, 1.8- or 2.0-litre petrols, along with 1.6- or 2.0-litre diesels. All cars had five doors and five seats, while an EGS automatic gearbox was available on the 1.6 and 2.0 versions. Its been around for six years, so there are plenty of C4 Picassos on the used market. Heres a list common problems to look out for when youre choosing one. Citroen C4 Picasso braking problem Some models built between May and December 2006 had braking issues. ![]() Citroen C4 Picasso glass roof problem The panoramic roofs on some cars built between February and June 2007 were faulty. Incorrect bonding means theres a risk of the partial release of the glass roof moulding, such that it becomes visible to the driver. If this is not rectified, in the long term, the moulding could detach. Their fixing screws were not to the correct standard and may slacken under pressure. Citroen C4 Picasso parking brake problem The parking brakes on some models built between July 2006 and May 2007 were faulty. Due to a manufacturing fault, one of the cables may not be able to hold the vehicle securely. Citroen C4 Picasso electrics problem A faulty ECU on some cars built between February and June 2008 could deteriorate, causing operating faults and perhaps failure of certain equipment including the wipers, lights and battery. Citroen C4 Picasso seatbelt problem Some models built during December 2012 had seatbelt faults. The front seatbelts may not click in properly, meaning passengers arent securely fastened in the event of a violent impact. Citroen C4 Picasso fuel leak problem (diesel cars) Some cars built between July and October 2010 were prone to fuel leaks. ![]() Citroen C4 Picasso starter motor problem The starter motor in some models built between July 2006 and October 2010 could be faulty. The wiring harness may be subject to long-term wear due to rubbing. This can cause electrical problems and, in the worst cases, fires.
